A very good question posed have you. It seems the normal post tourney fallout that happens in May for us did not happen until late summer this year. Ashland Ultimate has really dropped the ball missing some of the best weather that a field sport playa could ask for. Even Wednesday night was a failure with only a few of us showing up to play under the lights!
But to answer your question honestly, I think it is simple. We have many people who are wrapped up with spouses and children and getting old and other people who are just becoming more lazy. Thus, weak turnouts. I predict a revival but I can't say when. Having played Ultimate here off and on for 8 years, the more I learn the less I know and the less I understand why anyone would throw away an opportunity to play flatball in this kind of weather.
